OLD GOA
According to reports, the fourth accused identified as Sai Kundaikar had fled from the site after locals rushed to help the tourists when they were being attacked by three other persons -- Vishal Golatkar, Lawrence Dias and Suraj Shetye -- who are in police net.
Kundaikar has applied for anticipatory bail in the District and Sessions Court at Panaji. The court has issued notice to Old Goa Police in this connection and the matter will be heard on Monday.
It may be recalled that the four accused attacked
the tourists, including women and children, from Maharashtra. The accused also damaged their tourist bus on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at Merces when the Ghodekar family were returning back home after holidaying in Goa. A small scuffle at a tea hotel which was settled at the spot later took an ugly turn when one of the accused returned with three others to assault the tourists with swords and other sharp objects.
Meanwhile, the Old Goa police have procured the CCTV footage from the local restaurant where the incident
unfolded. Sources informed the footage clearly shows argument between the
two groups.
