Parish priest and social activist Fr Bolmax Pereira is currently on life support at Goa Medical College after reportedly suffering a major cardiac arrest on Saturday.

Sources said Fr Bolmax had shown encouraging signs of recovery earlier in the evening and had interacted with visitors and youth members at the hospital. However, around 10.20 pm, his condition suddenly deteriorated after he reportedly suffered another heart attack.

Friends and well-wishers who had visited him at GMC expressed deep concern over his condition. “Till 10 pm he was showing good signs of improvement. He had soup around 8.30 pm, spoke and joked with our youth. We had happily started returning home from GMC when we received news that he had suffered a major cardiac arrest at around 10.20 pm. Doctors did their best to revive him. As of now, he is on life support. Your prayers are the need of the hour,” a friend said.

Fr Bolmax had earlier collapsed at Vasco da Gama Railway Station on Friday morning while leaving for a picnic to Collem. He was initially revived by doctors at Daffodils Hospital near Tilak Maidan before being shifted to Goa Medical College for advanced treatment.
