"He has proved to be the most ineffective MLA for the last 25 years. Mapusa is the most disgraceful city. He has failed to develop the city and to cover his follies, he is trying to say that he's being sidetracked," said Goa Forward spokesman Trajan D'Mello.
Stating that it was BJP's internal matter, D'Mello, however, said that people would not swallow what D'Souza had told The Goan in an exclusive interview, after remaining in party for more than 20 years.
"He is the same person who tried to please the BJP by diluting his own religion. He is the same person who had said, ‘I will not accept any position other than the CM', soon after Parrikar resigned as chief minister in 2014 to move to the Centre. What did he do," he asked.
He said the entire minority community and people from other community too believe that the Mapusa MLA was a disaster.
"Mapusa has gone from bad to worse. And no one is more responsible for the present state of affairs in the city then the local MLA, who has presided on its fate for 25 long years," he added.
Lashing out at the urban development minister, Goa Forward's Mapusa Mahila President Kamal D'Souza said the Mapusa MLA was judging BJP on religious lines for his own interest.
"Does he intend to split Goa on the religion basis? People of Mapusa have always voted on party lines and not individuals. So, have the Mapsekars taken a wrong call in supporting and voting for Francis D'Souza? It is disrespect to Mhapshekar's," she said. She said the leader instead of challenging his own party, should have first resigned and then spoken his mind.
She further said the leader had failed to do bring any project worth its salt in Mapusa and only focused on developing his vote bank.
"He has done nothing except benefiting himself by creating a zopadpatti around his residential locality and near the district hospital," she added.
