Some freedom fighters reacted with outrage after they were stopped from visiting the Aguada Jail without an entry ticket on Goa Revolution Day. They were later permitted to enter the fort complex.
According to sources, the incident took place as they had gone to the Aguada Jail as part of an annual programme organised by the government to mark Goa Revolution Day.
As they reached the entry gate, they were stopped from entering the premises and were asked to purchase entry tickets, as the premises is currently leased to a private contractor.
The freedom fighters reacted with anger and the staff later permitted them to enter the premises without an entry ticket.
The freedom fighters later said it was shameful that they were barred from entering the premises without entry tickets on Revolution Day
Meanwhile, to mark Revolution Day, President of the Goa Daman Diu Freedom Fighters Association Rohidas Naik Desai hoisted the flag and placed garlands on the statue of Ram Manohar Lohia at the Aguada Jail.
Others present on the occasion included the Association’s Secretary Chandrakant Pednekar, Yashwant Malik, Raya Shirodkar, Prabhakar Naik, Dashrath Naik, Arun Dhargalkar, Dheeraj Naik of Sainik's Navjeevan Society along with their families, students and teachers of different schools.
