“The Vasco department has only one vehicle, which caters to the day and night shifts. I am aware of the difficulties faced by the labourers,” Bhande told The Goan.
“New tenders were floated and we are waiting approval from the finance department. I personally visited our South Goa PWD head office to follow up on the movement of the file and in next 10 to 15 days, the Vasco department will get three hired vehicles,” added Bhande. Asked why vehicles from Ponda were being hired by the PWD, Bhende replied: “These are open tenders and the tender is allotted to the one who fulfills all conditions.”
