The Shree Parshuram Gomantak Sena has demanded that the government and the Margao Municipal Council raze down all illegal structures that have come up in the green zone, accusing the local politicians for patronizing the illegalities while Goans are being made to adhere to all TCP rules and regulations in the zone.
The Sena has further unveiled plans to take on the issue of illegal shanties in Vasco and Bicholim, with Sena President Shailendra Velingkar saying that Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims have come and settled in areas represented by the ruling BJP MLAs.
“This is just the beginning we have made in Moti Dongor. We have information that Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya Muslims have come and settled in Vasco and Bicholim with political patronage,” Velingkar said, adding ‘while the BJP leadership is making a noise in WB over the presence of Bangladeshis, the party is silent in identifying and repatriating the nationals and Rohingya Muslims from Goa,” Velingkar told the media.
Referring to Moti Dongor, he pointed out that the HC had in 2013 issued directions for the demolition of the illegal structures on the hillock.
“We have information that many more illegal structures have come up in the natural reserve zone (A2 zone) at Moti Dongor. These structures are being allowed through political patronage in the A2 zone having more than 25 per cent slope, which is in direct violation of the TCP rules, thereby adding a burden of around 2500 illegal voters on the electoral roll of Margao, favouring a specific politician. This addition is being done specifically in part No 2, 6 and 7 of Moti Dongor area of Margao constituency,” he added.
Velingkar further pointed out that the people residing in these illegal structures are falsely availing of different government schemes relating to social welfare department, women and child development and DDSY of the health department.
The Sena has demanded an immediate survey of the area and demolition of the illegal structures which have come up in the natural reserve area (A2 zone) and to look into the violations of the HC order maintaining status quo regarding the illegal structures.
While expecting immediate action within seven days, the Sena has threatened to approach the High Court for justice and action.
