Smoke billows from the generators which were engulfed in flames at a resort at Ashwem beach in Mandrem on Monday morning.

Two generators were gutted in a fire at a resort near the Ajoba Temple at Ashwem beach in Mandrem, destroying property worth about Rs 30 lakh.
The incident took place at about 10 am when two generators were started on account of a power outage. Power supply resumed some time later, but the generator continued to operate.
A short while later, a fire broke out in the generators and thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky.
The Pernem fire station was notified and a fire tender went to the site and extinguished the fire, preventing further damage in the area. Both generators were destroyed in the fire.
