“The Congress candidate is spreading lies about me to the voters of Saligao. He is telling the people that I will join BJP after the elections,” Salgoankar said. “If I get elected as GFP candidate, how will I be able to join BJP? I will have to first resign and then re-contest on BJP ticket to do that,” he added.
The GFP candidate was addressing a news conference along with Pilerne Citizens Forum and the deputy sarpanch of Nerul in Mapusa.
“Agnelo should first explain why his Candolim Panchayat was supporting BJP in Calangute, while he was contesting as a Congress candidate in Saligao.” He said Nerul deputy sarpanch, Peidade Almeida and panch Narcis Almeida were fully backing him.
