MARGAO
With curtains coming down on the Pitru paksha period during the weekend, Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said the GFP State Executive Committee meeting will be convened soon to take stock of the political situation in the state, including the alliance talks with the Congress.
He said some concrete developments on the political front are expected to come by Dussehra.
Interacting with the media at his weekly darbar at the Goemkar ghor, Sardesai said the notice convening the State Executive Committee meeting will be issued in the next two days.
He recalled that the Goa Forward Party State executive had earlier decided to suspend all alliance talks with the Congress party. Based on the decision, the party leadership had then stopped all talks with the Congress party.
Sardesai said the State executive committee will discuss and deliberate on the prevailing political situation in view of the upcoming 2027 Assembly election. ‘At the last meeting, we had taken the decision to suspend alliance talks with the principal opposition party. We will discuss alliance talks and other issues in view of the political developments unfolding in the state”, he said, adding that “We should have something concrete by Dussehra”.
Meanwhile, the Goa Forward Chief said that the regional party will extend its full support to the people of Velsao waging a sustained battle against double track in the village.
“Thousands of people from all over Goa had protested at Chandor six years ago against the track doubling project. Sadly, the government has bulldozed its way with the project”, he lamented.
