CANACONA

Stating that Goa needs consensus candidates to defeat the communal BJP government, Goa Forward Party Supremo Vijai Sardesai said his party would have Prashant Naik as candidate for Canacona constituency at the forthcoming assembly polls.

Sardessai was speaking after inaugurating the party office at Chaudi-Canacona during his overnight tour of the constituency. Some local leaders were also inducted into the party.

“What we need at this stage is a consensus candidate and we need to begin with Canacona,” said Sardesai.

Stating that his party would soon provide internet dongles to students and offer WiFi free to them, Sardesai criticised the State government for announcing jobs ahead of the polls.

“Mark my words, this government will not give jobs and is presently borrowing loans to pay salaries of government employees,” said Sardesai.

GFP Working President Kiran Khandolkar said there is a clear indication that Naik would be the next MLA of Canacona.

Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar and Siolim MLA Vinod Palyekar appealed to the people to elect Prashant Naik at the next assembly elections. GFP General Secretary Mohandas Lolienkar and Prashant Naik also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion, Remy Borges, former Cotigao sarpanch Mahadev Gaonkar, Vikas Bhagat, Anastina Silva, Bombo Baudan and Guru Bandekar, were inducted into the GFP.

Earlier, Sardesai led a rally from St Threza of Jesus Church to the office premises.

During his overnight stay in Canacona, Sardesai met tribals in interior parts of Canacona to understand their basic problems and issues.
