The Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Tuesday cautioned its members and leaders of its committees to refrain from speaking to political personalities on the issue of the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.
GGEA president John Nazareth on Tuesday pointed to news reports on Congress president Luizinho Faleiro that certain leaders of government unions had met him and were disappointed and frustrated
“We conducted an inquiry within our cadre to gather information if any of the members of the Central Working Committee, District Councils, Taluka Committees or Departmental Councils had met the Congress President, and the information gathered by us so far indicates that none of the leaders of GGEA had met the senior politician,” said Nazareth.
He also cautioned members not to create unwanted panic and confusion by meeting political leaders not involved in the process of implementation of Seventh Pay Commission. The central working committee, he added, would be compelled to take strict action against those violating the provisions of bye-laws.
“The Central Working Committee which is the apex committee is fully aware of the matter and its responsibilities and is doing its best to prevail upon the government about the need to implement the Seventh Central Pay Commission,” he said, adding that the association had enough confidence in the Government to implement the same very soon.
Meanwhile, GGEA has also written a letter to the Congress President to reveal the names of the leaders of this organisation (if any) who had met him for its information and necessary action.
In a special meeting held on Monday, the GGEA welcomed the decision of the government to upgrade employees from Group D to Group C. They had also resolved to write to the government on giving them an appointment to discuss the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission, failing which, they said they would be filing a strike notice.
