Additional District Collector Pundalik Khorjuvekar has directed the Deputy Collector to immediately seal and remove the giant wheel and other amusement rides erected at the Shri Bodgeshwar Jatrotsav site in Mapusa if they do not have NOCs and safety permits.
The order was issued by the Additional District Collector on Wednesday evening on the instructions of the District Collector. Copies of this order have been sent to the Chairman of the Bodgeshwar Devasthan and the North Goa District Collector.
The North Goa District Collector had instructed the Additional District Collector to take action against the giant wheels and amusement rides set up at the Bodgeshwar fairgrounds if they do not submit the necessary NOCs and safety permits to operate.
Till Wednesday, these permits had not been submitted to the Collector’s office by the parties concerned. Taking note of this, Khorjuvekar directed Deputy Collector Varsha Parab, Mameldar and Temple Administrator Anant Malik to immediately seal and remove the giant wheels and amusement rides without any delay.
On December 26, Khorjuvekar had issued an order directing the owner of a giant wheel to shut it down due to the lack of a fire safety permit. However, another giant wheel and other amusement rides have been erected at the fair.
