In what will sound like music to the ears of the industrialists, Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) will conduct the process of allotment, transfer and sub-lease of industrial plots online.

For a while, the business community has been complaining that it takes too long to get a plot allotted from GIDC. If it is brought online, then it will improve the speed and make the process transparent.

A source said, “At the recent board meeting of GIDC, there was a presentation on how to make plot allotment, transfer and sub-lease online. So far, they have collected the data. Now, they will begin implementation of it.”

There are many government-to-business services of Fire Department and Factories & Boilers, which are already available online. But, as far as GIDC is concerned, the industrialists have to chase its officials physically, which requires them to come to Panaji. They would be spared from such hassles if the process becomes online.

The source also informed that a committee was formed to put up all the SOPs (standard operating procedures) of GIDC. As of now, if someone wants to take a plot on lease from GIDC, there is no standard format of the application.

As a result, people make an application in whichever format they wish. Now to standardise this and many other formalities, a committee will form the SOPs.
