Prabodhan 2020, the National Supply Chain and Operations Conclave, organised by SCOPES recently, started with a harmonious performance by GIM Choir and the unveiling of ‘Samhita 5.0, the Annual Supply Chain and Operations Newsletter’.
After the inauguration, Scopes welcomed its first speaker in the ‘Meet the Experts: Tantra’ series, Amartyaa Kumaar Guha, Associate Director - Supply chain, Flipkart, who interacted with students on how logistics impacts businesses. Speaking on ‘exploring the unexplored’, he manoeuvered the audience through the changing landscape of the Indian supply chain and gave an overview of the Indian logistics space and retail growth in India.
Day one of the event ended with a workshop on ‘Project Management using MS Project’, which was conducted by Maneesh Vijaya and top 8 teams from across the country presented their solutions in the case study competition, Continuum V6.0.
Day 2 began with Beer Game 2020, a game based on the principles of supply chain management, to test how adept the participants are in handling the nuances of the supply chain. Followed by which, the second speaker for the event, Ritesh Andre, spokesperson, Mumbai Dabbawala, addressed the students. He was accompanied by Ramdas Baban Karvande, President, Jaysing Damodar Pingle, Treasurer, and Ashok Baban Kumbhaar, Secretary. Ritesh explained the 130-year-old delivery service, which started way back in 1890, having a six-sigma certification with a rating of 99.99%, employing almost 5,000 employees, delivering 2 lakh lunch boxes every day within a 4-hour delivery service time, without using any private vehicles. Since Mumbai has good local train connectivity, the dabbawalas have stuck to Mumbai, explained Ritesh. SCOPES, Goa Institute of Management was thrilled to host the two-day event filled with a lot of learning and enthusiasm.
