Offline public examinations for class X and XII students of the current academic year will be conducted by the Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education next year from May 13 and April 1 respectively.
The proposal and schedule for these crucial public exams drawn up by the GBS&HSE was on Thursday approved by the State government.
As per the schedule made public by the Education Board, class XII students will have their theory papers beginning from April 26.
The theory examinations for the class X students will commence from May 13.
Practicals for SSCE begins from April 5 to April 30 while that of HSSCE from April 1 to April 24.
The Board said detailed subject-wise schedule for both the examinations leading to successful candidates earning their secondary school and higher secondary school certificates, two crucial academic career barriers, will be announced by mid-January.
The current academic year has faced multiple disruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions. Academic work in schools has largely been conducted online.
Also, the various subject Board of Studies (BoS) of the GBS&HSE had conducted an elaborate exercise by pruning the syllabi for these two crucial examinations due to the anticipated loss of instructional hours abd other disruptions in academic processes on account of the pandemic.
Recently the government had permitted resumption of physical classes for class X and XII students, but some schools suspended these too after spiradic cases of teachers and students contracted the dreaded virus.
Several schools, however, utilized the physical mode of teaching only for practicals and continue to rely on online teaching methods for the theory component.
