PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged migrants from Bihar residing in Goa to respect the state's culture, heritage, and cleanliness. Speaking at an event marking Bihar Diwas, Sawant highlighted the longstanding relationship between Goa and Bihar while emphasizing the importance of social harmony.
"I only request people who migrate to Goa to follow Goa's culture and heritage; because when a crime takes place, you won't feel good when people say that a person from Bihar has committed a crime," Sawant said. "Follow the culture and live in unity and peace. The relationship with Goa and Bihar is long. You may be from Bihar, but you live in Goa keep it clean," he added.
During the event, Sawant also mentioned that people from Bihar and rest of India can benefit from government schemes such as the 'One Nation One Ration' program, which allows ration access in Goa, and the PM Ayushman Bharat Card, which can be used for health insurance coverage at the Goa Medical College and Hospital
The BJP Goa unit celebrated Bihar Diwas to recognize the contributions of the Bihari community in the state. Sawant also noted that Goa Day was celebrated in Bihar on December 19.
