Goa’s first assisted living centre, established by Mumbai-based elder care service provider Aaji Care, was inaugurated recently in Old Goa. The event was graced by Rohan Khaunte, Minister for IT, Revenue, Labour and Employment, along with local leaders Sarpanch Medha Parvatkar and Deputy Sarpanch Ambar Amonkar.

Located near Healthway Hospital in Ella, the centre offers both long-term and short-term care for elders dealing with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, cancer, and paralysis. Key features include 24-hour nursing care, physiotherapy and yoga sessions, specialised meals, and a dedicated floor for dementia patients.

The facility also boasts a swimming pool, garden, clubhouse, and proximity to a multi-specialty hospital.

CEO and Founder Prasad Bhide highlighted Aaji Care’s decade-long experience managing similar centres in Mumbai and Pune. The organisation also provides home care services, which are set to expand to Pune soon.

During the inauguration, Aaji Care launched its first magazine, ‘Ageing Gracefully’, aimed at elders and their families. The event also honoured six senior citizens for their contributions to the community and featured a skit on dementia awareness by Dr Saish Deshpande’s Abhivyaktai group.

This new facility marks a significant milestone in elder care services in Goa.
