Goa went into three-day State mourning following the death of the legendary singer who traces her roots to Mangeshi village in Priol.
Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant condoled the her death.
Pillai said, the divine and melodious voice of ‘India’s Nightingale’ is irreplaceable and will remain deeply etched in the hearts of the people of India and Sawant tweeted he was anguished by the demise of the nightingale of India.
