Goa Chief Secretary V Candavelou today reviewed the LPG supply situation in the State with the representatives of the Oil Companies of IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL, along with senior officials of the State, and asserted that the overall situation in the State is good and domestic consumers need not fear for the supply of gas cylinders as there is ample stock.
"There is a need to disseminate correct information to the general public to allay their fears, and hence the District Collectors should issue directions to the SDM and Deputy Collector of every Taluka to monitor and sensitize of the prevailing situation," he said.
The Superintendents of Police of North and South Goa were also directed to provide necessary assistance to the Oil companies in ensuring smooth delivery to the domestic consumers when needed. It was also emphasized that the need to sensitize the public on the same to arrest the panic buying of LPG and hoarding by consumers.
The representatives of the oil companies apprised the Chief Secretary and other members of the current situation of various stocks at their disposal, and informed certain restrictions were being imposed on the use of LPG by commercial establishments to safeguard domestic availability. However, they clarified that priority consumers like the Defense, educational institutions, hospitals, etc., are exempted from the restrictions. They also informed about the contingency and a backup plan in case of future requirements for the State, if required.
