Goa Healthcare expo to focus on medical equipment, services

Healthcare professionals in the State will come together for an exhibition and conference that will showcase the best in hospital, medical and surgical equipment including dental, disposables and allied services.

Goa Healthcare Expo-2017 being organized by the Indian Medical Association (Goa branch), SRS Global Industry Solutions and Obstetrics and Gynecological society will be held on May 26 and 27 at Goa Marriott in Panaji.   
The exhibition will feature a complete range of equipment, material, services, processes, systems, components, consumables which find wide use in medical surgeries, hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers across the world.   
It will also be a business-to-business platform towards knowledge sharing and bringing industry experts from major government and private institutions together. 500 delegates for seminars and 1,500 healthcare professionals are expected to attend the two-day event. These will include hospital owners, diagnostic centers, medical directors and biomedical engineers from Goa and Karnataka as well from other parts of the India.   
The objective of the expo is to provide an upbeat, pioneering and value based platform for interaction within the healthcare professionals, manufacturers, distributors of medical equipment and technology industry under one roof, with an overall mission to accelerate the growth of the healthcare industry and health tourism in Goa. The expo would be a comprehensive healthcare event encompassing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare.   
The expo would discuss and tackle challenges that are continuously demanding innovative, affordable, accessible, quality equipment and technology in the healthcare industry.   
The expo will also address growing population concerns including increase in lifestyle related diseases, availability of cost effective treatments and the preference of treatments from government and private hospitals through various seminars and workshops scheduled.   
Healthcare is one of the major sectors fueling the growth of the Indian economy and currently stands at US$ 60 billion, ranking third among India’s fastest growing industries and is expected to reach over US$ 250 billion by 2020.   
Seminars on the second day of the expo will include ‘safety precautions while using surgical diathermy in operating room’ by Sudarshan Nagaonkar from Mumbai, ‘Medical Value Travel’ by Rama Venugopal from Chennai and ‘Patient Safety Infection Control’ by Zakir Hussain from Mumbai.

Power dept warns defaulters, but also allows escape route

The power department on Tuesday warned to take penal action against consumers, who misuse and pilfer power, but at the same time allowed the defaulters to regularise irregularities to avoid action.
