Goa Police has brought down its average response time from 18 minutes two years ago to less than eight minutes in August 2026, while emerging as one of the country’s better-performing police forces.

Director General of Police Alok Kumar said on Saturday, speaking at the launch of the six-day ‘Police Pride Ride’ rally, that the force ranked first in the country in the investigation of crimes against women and children and second in cases of cyber fraud.

“Our response time was 18 minutes two years ago and has come down to less than eight minutes in August 2026,” he said.

The President’s Colour, one of the highest honours that can be conferred on a uniformed service, will be presented to Goa Police by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on September 7.

Disciplined and dedicated police force: CM

PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Goa was only the 15th State to receive the distinction.

“It is a matter of pride that a small State like Goa is receiving such an honour. It is recognition of the fact that the police department is working in a disciplined manner and with dedication,” he said, while flagging off the rally at police headquarters on Saturday.

The rally will pass through various talukas over the next six days, taking the significance of the honour to the public while also showcasing the work and functioning of the police department. Sawant said its message would centre on ‘Shaurya, Suraksha and Seva’.

“The government had been pursuing the modernisation of the force through upgraded equipment, technology and infrastructure. Modernisation of the department will continue in the future as well. Goa Police will continue to work in the same manner to ensure the safety of citizens,” he said.
