Goa records over 4,000 Covid cases from Dec 30

Goa has recorded 4,106 new Covid cases since December 30, 2021, a reflection of how the unchecked crowds and year-end celebrations have affected the State’s Covid graph.

On Thursday, the Directorate of Health Services recorded 971 new Covid cases and two deaths. The active caseload of the State stood at 4,613and the cumulative death toll has reached 3,528. The daily positivity rate was 20.46 per cent with 4,744 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Over the last week, seven people have succumbed to the infection and the average weekly positivity rate was around 14.3 per cent. However, there have been only 48 hospitalizations.

Cases have shot up drastically in and around Margao, Panaji, Mapusa, Porvorim, Cansaulim, Cortalim, Ponda, Vasco, Chimbel, Siolim, Candolim, Curchorem, Chinchinim, Curtorim and Loutolim.
