Goa to host 24th Xavier Board’s national triennial conference

The XXIV Xavier Board Triennial Conference for the year 2022 will be held at the St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa, from October 22-24 on the theme ‘Journeying with the Synodal Spirit through Networking and Academic Collaborations - Together in Communion, Participation and Mission’.

Over 325 delegates from all over India including vice-chancellors, principals, administrators, secretaries, directors and correspondents of various Catholic higher educational institutions have registered for this national event.

The triennial event will begin on October 22 at 3 pm with an inaugural Holy Mass at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, officiated by Archbishop on Nagpur Elias Gonsalves, and concelebrated by about 100 priests delegates of the National Conference representing Catholic Higher Educational Institutions across India.

The formal Inauguration will be held at St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Kongal Sangama who will also deliver the key-note address.

Words of Blessing will be offered by Archbishop Gonsalves, while the presidential address will be delivered by President of the Xavier Board Fr Antony Arackal.

The unfolding of the theme of the conference will be done by CCBI Deputy Secretary General Dr Stephen Alathara, followed by a cultural fiesta presented by Catholic colleges of Goa.

On October 23, there will be a talk by Shashi Tharoor, MP, eminent diplomat, renowned academician and educationist, followed by an interactive session with the delegates.

There will be also parallel sessions on various relevant topics addressing the issues and challenges in higher education today including of the implementation of the National Education Policy at different venues in SJVSRC.

The election of the new office bearers also will be held in this triennial event for the coming triennium 2022-2025.

The Xavier Board of Higher Education in India was established in 1951 and is the only association of all Catholic Institutions of Higher Education in India.

It is officially recognised by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India (CBCI) and functions in collaboration with the CBCI Commission for Education and Culture. It is the Indian organ to represent the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU/FIUC) with headquarters in Paris. The Xavier Board is also the South Asia regional arm of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU).
