PANAJI:
Union Minister Shripad Naik emphasised the importance of public representatives in ensuring the success of government schemes, particularly those aimed at benefiting common people. He was speaking at a workshop organised by the Swaniti Initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The event focused on creating awareness about the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana and the PM-KUSUM scheme. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade, and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat were present at the event along with several ministers and Zilla Panchayat members.
Minister Naik stated that schemes introduced by the Prime Minister are designed with the goal of empowering the poorest sections of society. He added that cooperation from all stakeholders is essential to ensure these schemes reach the grassroots.
Chief Minister Sawant announced that awareness campaigns will be held at the village panchayat level, and GEDA has been tasked with implementation. Tanavade noted that Goa’s relatively low power tariffs make it suitable for running these schemes as pilot projects.
A presentation and discussion on the schemes followed. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Uma Bhattacharya, Trustee of Swaniti Initiative.
