After successfully marching ahead and overcoming stiff opposition from private taxi owners and completing six months in service, GoaMiles now plans to expand its ambit to autorickshaw and two-wheeler taxi service.
GoaMiles also wants to attach itself to cruise service, scuba diving and all activities related to the hotel industry.
“For last six months there are nearly 1.85 lakh downloads of the app and around 1000-odd taxis registered with us”, Utkarsh Dabhale, MD GoaMiles said.
The firm now has plans to expand its reach in the hinterland areas and plans to come out with package tours in certain areas.
“The market is huge... nearly Rs 18,000 crore. We want make our presence to serve tourists and benefit people”, said Dabhale.
Calling local taxi owners not registered with the app-based service as ‘Taxi Mafia’, Dabhale informed that 13 incidents of attacks on GoaMiles drivers had occurred in the last six months.
In many cases, FIRs had been registered while the transport department had also initiated action against them.
