Treading cautiously on the simmering discontent brewing between GoaMiles and local tourist taxi-drivers, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hoped to find a way out on the “delicate” issue.
“GoaMiles is a very delicate issue. We will have to take all stakeholders into confidence to resolve the matter,” Sawant said, refusing to elaborate on the issue.
Last week, at least seven local tourist taxi-drivers allegedly beat up three GoaMiles drivers and damaged their cars late in the night in Calangute.
Police have booked all the accused taxi-drivers but were yet to arrest them till late Sunday evening.
Last month, the chief minister had met a section of the local tourist taxi-drivers and sought time to find a solution to the vexed issue.
The local tourist taxi-drivers have been demanding nothing short of shutting down of the app-based taxi service GoaMiles.
Incidentally, the taxi-drivers refuse to come clear on setting up of digital fare meters in their taxis as mandated by the High Court.
