The Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan has complimented Tommy Afonso (Jr Nelson) and Andre Pedro D Souza (Bab Andrew) for their remarkable achievement of singing a Konkani song in the House of Commons UK.

This historic performance is yet another milestone in taking our language Konkani to the world wide audience, said GRLA President Kennedy Afonso.

“A well composed song, with meaningful lyrics, lovely music, and well sung by Bab Tommy and Bab Andrew. The song reflects the experience of Goans coming from Goa for employment, living in the UK, and the need for the Goan diaspora to stand united at all times.

Global Romi Lipi Abhiyan said unity among Devanagiri, Roman script protagonists, and other scripts of Konkani is also the need of the hour, and if recognition is given to both scripts of Konkani in Goa, it can go a long way in promoting the rich cultural heritage of Konkani to the world.
