God has already decided on who will succeed and who will sink in the upcoming state assembly polls, Goa BJP general secretary Damu Naik said on Monday.

Naik was responding to the ongoing controversy surrounding the reference made to Goddess Shantadurga by the working president of Goa Forward Party Kiran Kandolkar.

"We condemn the statement made by the working president of Goa Forward Party. Every Goan woman worships Shantadurga. She is not calm, as people are being led to believe. Go to any temple, you will see Shantadurga with a sword and a shield," Naik told a press conference here on Monday.

"I urge them to not involve God in (politics). God will decide on whom it will save or sink. You will see it after the assembly elections," Naik also said.

The BJP official also slammed Goa Forward MLAs and the president of the party Vijai Sardesai for pulling a political stunt on Monday, when he travelled by bus from Panaji to the assembly complex in Porvorim, with the two party MLAs -- Vinod Palienkar and Jayesh Salgaocar in tow.

"Going by bus to the assembly is drama. People will not fall prey to it. Have they travelled by bus ever in their life?" Naik said.

The BJP spokesperson also reiterated BJP state president Sadanand Shet Tanavade's offer to like-minded parties, especially the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party for alliance talks.
