The June 24, 2025 government circular on unsafe and dilapidated buildings  to the two district Collectors and Chairpersons, District Disaster Management Authority:

Undertake a comprehensive verification within their jurisdiction to identify buildings/structure that are: a) Structurally unsound; b) abandoned and c) otherwise unsafe for habitation or public use

Coordinate with the local bodies (Municipal Councils and Panchayats) to obtain or update lists of such buildings within their jurisdictions

Issue necessary directions to local authorities to: a. Conduct structural safety assessments through competent technical personnel; b. Issue notices to owners/occupants of dangerous buildings; c. Take action such as barricading, evacuation, or demolition where required

In cases where local bodies do not act in a timely manner, the Collectors may invoke their powers under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to initiate appropriate preventive or punitive action
