VASCO
Congress leaders Nazir Khan and Nandadeep Raut on Saturday alleged that the government has failed to effectively address the long-standing issue of coal pollution in Vasco. Speaking at a press conference, they said the problem continues to affect residents despite repeated complaints and public protests over the years.
The leaders claimed that authorities have not taken adequate steps to curb pollution and alleged that coal-handling operations at the Mormugao Port Authority continue without sufficient safeguards. According to them, coal dust remains a threat to both the environment and public health, particularly for people living near port areas.
Khan and Raut said residents have repeatedly raised concerns about air quality and the impact of coal handling, but their grievances have not received adequate attention. They called for stricter monitoring of coal-handling activities and stronger pollution-control measures to protect public health and the environment. They also urged voters to hold elected representatives accountable on the issue during the upcoming elections.
