Govt eyes ordinance route to checkmate secret ballot

MARGAO

With strong reports doing the rounds in political circles that the government is planning to bring an Ordinance to subvert law that prescribes secret ballot for Municipal Chairperson polls, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai took to twitter to say that on the eve of Dussehra, evil is raising its head and that all Goemkars must rally to destroy it.

He pointed out that an Ordinance is being circulated for Cabinet approval to subvert the law that prescribes secret ballot for municipal chairperson poll so that the BJP Goa can snatch power against the will of Goans.

“I have credible information that the Ordinance is sought to be brought immediately for Cabinet approval via circulation. This is all being done to subvert the democratic process for elections for the polls of municipal chairpersons”, he said.
