The State government is launching the country’s first fully tech-based online lottery, with the first draw scheduled for 24th November.
The government-appointed Rhiti Sports has been awarded the licence to market and sell Goa State Online Lottery schemes on a five-year contract.
Director of the Directorate of Small Savings and Lotteries, Narayan Gad, stated that with this online lottery streamlining processes through technology, a new standard is being set in the lottery industry.
“As India’s first fully technology-driven online lottery, this app-based platform is expected to transform the lottery landscape with its cutting-edge technology, enhanced transparency, and unmatched accessibility. It will enhance transparency and ensure improved monitoring and regulation of operations,” he said in a media statement on Friday.
The statement further mentioned that Great Goa Games (G3) is likely to become a trailblazer in India’s lottery industry, which currently operates largely on a paper ticket-based system officially prevalent in more than 10 states.
Founder of the Rhiti Group, Arun Pandey, stated that they aim to democratise opportunities through technology. “G3 will offer an unparalleled experience for players and build trust and excitement. This initiative underscores our commitment to societal betterment through innovation, making the lottery accessible and rewarding for everyone,” he said.
According to the department, people from diverse backgrounds, including the unskilled workforce, will be able to engage with this online lottery system, thereby increasing participation rates.
This move is expected to curb the loss of tax revenue to the Government of India.
