The Directorate of Social Welfare on Wednesday issued a circular directing all departments and agencies to insist on Unique Disability Identity Cards (UDID) number and/or UDID enrolment number along with a copy of a disability certificate from Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to avail various government schemes.
The document will also facilitate PwDs for job vacancies.
The circular, signed by Director Ajit Panchwadkar, comes in the wake of the Central government’s project on issuing disability certificates and UDID cards to PwDs for availing various schemes/entitlements including health, education, and recruitment in the State.
“Pursuant to the implementation of the UDID project by the Government of India, in order to boost registration it has been decided to mandate the requirement of UDID number/ UDID enrolment number with a copy of disability certificate (in case UDID number is not available) for availing all the schemes/ entitlements…” reads the circular, while directing all the Departments, Corporations, and Autonomous bodies to insist on the requirement on ‘top priority.’
