Aiming at providing hands-on training, State Government is exploring the possibility of giving its guest houses on nomination basis to ITI students.
Speaking in this regard Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated, "Within eight days I will release a note stating that government is ready to give its guest houses, circuit houses, guest houses at Factories and Boilers, on nomination basis if students are ready to operate these. They will get hands-on training."
He was speaking at the induction programme of ITI Panaji at Altinho on Wednesday.
Parrikar also said that ITI courses make a person become independent as far as employment was concerned.
"ITIs offer various basic courses and impart training in various trades like electrician, plumber, AC mechanic, fitter, diesel mechanic, welders and hospitality, among
others which have big demand," he said.
Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Director Aleixo Da Costa congratulated the students for their decision in opting for various trades in ITIs.
ITI, Panaji has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyundai wherein the automobile trainees will be imparted training in additional skills, besides their regular curriculum.
Speaking on the occasion, Costa said, "Additional skills would be related to what is required by Hyundai. At the end of the course, with these additional skills, Hyundai will employ all those who are fit
for employment. This year they have taken 17 trainees out of the 21,"
