The State government, which has been in the middle of controversy owing to its failure to tackle noise pollution, especially along the coastal belt, has now proposed to undertake noise mapping, identify the hot spots and propose mitigation plan for control of noise pollution.
In the Budget 2024-25, the government has earmarked Rs 2.35 crore to take up noise mapping at two major locations to curb the pollution.
Even though, the government has finalised and notified the much delayed 2011 coastal zone management plan (CZMP) based on 1:25,000 scale, it is now in process to draft CZMP 2011 on 1:4,000 scale.
GoVan project
The government announced that under GoVan project of the Goa State Biodiversity Board, ten new multipurpose centres would be set up this year.
The State has also taken up steps to set up Green Climate Fund with the help of World Bank. The project is estimated to be at the cost of Rs 1650 cr.
The government has proposed to spend Rs 10 cr towards National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystem, Integrated Management for Ramsar Site and Framework Management Plan for Ramsar site.
Govt proposes to hike TCP fees
PANAJI: The State government has proposed to hike various fees under the Town and Country Planning Department from the upcoming financial year.
The government has announced to make necessary amendment to the Goa Development and Building Construction Regulations 2010 for land development in the rural and interior areas of the State. The government intends to draft a scheme for the development of these economically weaker areas/villages. It has proposed to extend the benefit of Building Plan Approval Management system across all buildings.
PANAJI: The State government on Thursday failed to give any concrete assurance on the resumption of iron ore mining activities in Goa, which have been shut since March 2018.
However, the Budget 2024-25, promises to shortly initiate a process to e-auction the ore dumps lying across the State, for which a dump policy has been finalised.
The State is considering increasing the lease period for minor minerals but failed to specify the same. Also, no timeline was declared to resume the legal sand mining in a scientific manner.
