Govt set to notify State's solar policy

"The Solar Policy has been finalised and it will be notified within this week. The file has already been sent to the CM", he said.
"There have been no major changes in the draft but we have tried to incorporate all suggestions and objections received", said Madkaikar.
Madkaikar had earlier stated that the government had formulated the solar policy as many companies wanted to set up plants in Goa.
"Once this happens, Goa will be able to buy locally generated power at lesser rate. Central govt, which is promoting solar power generation, has given us year-wise target to generate 150 MW of solar power by 2022", he had said.
Earlier the Draft was kept open for suggestions and objections twice but there was no much response.
"After the policy was opened, we received many suggestions from various sections which were not incorporated in the draft. So we redrafted it and re-opened it for suggestions. The main issue for those interested in setting up plants was the availability of land. We cannot provide them land, as it involves cost. So now they must have land to set up the plant. That is our policy", he had said.
