Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao on Sunday slammed the BJP government for its insensitive attitude towards person with disabilities (PwDs) in the State.
Addressing the programme organised by the South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha to distribute 11 three-wheelers to the persons with disabilities, Yuri said the incumbent government is not at all bothered about the PwDs. “The government has still not sanctioned funds amounting to Rs 75 lakh for the PwDs who had participated in the Olympics,” the Opposition leader said.
He said the government has also not provided jobs to the persons with disabilities as per the landmark Supreme Court judgement. “Even the Assembly complex was not disabled friendly. I request the government to take the matter seriously,” he said.
Yuri complimented the South Goa MP for making available the three-wheelers for the 11 beneficiaries from across the South Goa district.
