Govt studying UPS for pensioners: CM

Stating that the State government is presently studying the central government’s Unified Pensioners Scheme (UPS) for its employees, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government has every intention to extend benefits to its pensioners.

During his visit to Canacona to inaugurate the Lata Mangeshkar Kalangan, Sawant was asked to comment on the possibility of the State government also opting for the UPS.

“My finance department has taken up a study on the central government’s UPS, in comparison our present and previous pension scheme of the State government,” said Sawant.

“After this study, a decision will be taken, but the State government has clear intentions to extend benefits to our pensioners.”
