Govt to explore possibility of increasing job reservation for special children: Sawant

MARGAO
There’s good news in store for the special children in the State. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said the government would explore the possibility of increasing the reservation for government jobs for the special children in the State.

He further assured that the government would go out of the way, by even changing existing rules, to ensure that additional funds are sanctioned for the schools imparting skill development for the special children.

Speaking at the 18th All Goa Goan Folk Dance Festival organised by the special school run by the Gujarati Samaj Trust on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the government is presently reserving only two per cent of jobs for the special children, which may not cater to meet the requirements of this category of children. “I will explore the possibility of changing the rules to reservations of jobs for special children. If need be, my government will even provide additional grants to trusts running special children imparting skills for the children,” he said.

The Chief Minister complimented the Gujarati Samaj school for imparting skill development for the special children, saying this will go a long way in helping the children to stand on their legs.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister made a fervent plea to the private sector to ensure that special children are provided jobs in their organisations.

Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and others attended.
