At a meeting chaired by Additional District Collector Rancon Pereira relating to disaster management ahead of the BRICS summit, it was discussed that the entire NH-17 road, right from Dabolim to Old market should be reserved for the traffic heading for the BRICS summit by diverting public transport between Zuari bridge and Margao via Cortalim, Thana, Rassaim, Loutolim, Raia and the Eastern bypass.
“This was one of the proposals discussed at today’s meeting called to discuss the disaster arrangements in view of the BRICS summit”, Pereira said.
He pointed out that instead of stopping public transport for hours along the scheduled route, traffic can be diverted along the alternate route on the Highway to ensure easy movement of traffic north-South.
