The Goa government will set up an entertainment park on an allegedly vacant plot of land in Mandrem, GTDC Chairman and local MLA Dayanand Sopte said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the GTDC which will receive the land from the Revenue Department over the next six months.
“The entertainment village will be spread over 1.25 lakh square metres. The land which was lying idle with the Revenue Department for nearly 20 years has now been transferred to the Tourism Department,” Sopte said.
“The Chief Minister has directed that all due processes, which includes land conversion of the area and change in land-use zoning, have to be done within three months. The project will help the state government earn a lot of revenue,” Sopte said.
Sopte said that the foundation stone of the entertainment village would be laid by December 19 this year.
