The Goy Rakhonn Yatra received an enthusiastic response in the Curchorem–Sanvordem area on Friday. The yatra began at Sanvordem Tisk before proceeding to Curchorem constituency.

Addressing a large gathering, AICC Goa Desk in-charge Manikrao Thakare expressed confidence that the people of Goa would vote the BJP out of power in the forthcoming elections, citing the enthusiastic response to the yatra. He appealed to people to bring the Congress to power to save Goa.

Thakare alleged that murders and violent incidents were occurring daily in the State and accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant of failing in his role as Home Minister.

AICC co-in-charge Dr Anjali Nimbalkar said the BJP’s Beti Bachao (Save the Girl Child) slogan had proved hollow, with women continuing to face injustice and atrocities.

Pushkal Sawant said the yatra had encouraged and energised party workers. Expressing confidence that the Congress would win Curchorem constituency in the forthcoming elections, he said the party would eradicate the drug menace in the constituency and ensure adequate security for women once it came to power.

Pinty Hodarkar criticised the local government for allegedly ignoring the deplorable condition of roads in the Curchorem area. He said the participation of a large number of party workers, despite the prevailing atmosphere of fear, indicated an impending Congress victory.

GPCC president Girish Chodankar, South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes, Quepem MLA Alton D’Costa, former minister Dominic Fernandes, Pratima Coutinho, M K Shaikh, Pratiksha Khalap, Vithoba Desai, Rajesh Verekar, Balkrishna Hodarkar, Manohar Naik, Parag Sabnis and Sanket Bhandari were among those who participated in the yatra.
