A man from Banda-Maharashtra was traced after he used Google Pay to pay the guest house bill and arrested in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old woman at the guest house at Khalchawada-Arambol.
According to reports, the accused, Ganesh Virnodkar from Banda, had checked into a guest house along with the woman on May 9. The woman showed her ID proof while the man had assured to provide his ID proof after two days.
The address on the ID of the deceased revealed that the woman was from Sawantwadi.
The guest house manager said CCTV footage had captured the man locking the door and leaving on the night of May 13.
On Monday afternoon, the room boy alerted the manager foul smell started emanating from the room.
They notified Pernem police and a police team went to the site and found the woman lying on the floor.
According to sources, the deceased is the wife of Ganesh’s friend and there are suspicions of a love triangle.
Incidentally, the accused had paid the guest house through Google Pay and this helped police trace him. He was arrested in Banda and was brought to Goa. Pernem PI Vikram Naik is conducting investigations into the case.
