Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) will conduct a final screening test on November 26 for 95 candidates who cleared the pre-screening test held last month for the recruitment or the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP).
GPSC received 2,468 applications and invited 2,350 to appear for the pre-screening test on October 22. However, only 1,866 persons attended the test, and 95 cleared it.
Even among the 95 candidates who passed the first pre-screening test, only 58 passed outright, while 37 persons repeated the pre-screening test on November 5.
GPSC Chairman Jose Manual Noronha said that the final screening test will be held on November 26, and those who clear it will be eligible for the physical fitness test to be held in mid-December. The physical fitness test will be followed by a written examination and interview.
The state government is recruiting DySPs after a gap of 25 years. The government sent a proposal to GPSC to recruit 62 DySPs through direct recruitment as well as promotions. On the recommendation of GPSC, the state promoted 27 police inspectors (PIs) to the level of DySP.
