Congratulating the GSL, A K Gupta said it is a matter of pride that India is one of the few nations in the world to have mastered the integrated art of warship building for the export segment.
Gupta said the GSL had designed the ship in-house, keeping in mind the specific requirements of the Sri Lankan Navy, in accordance of the rules and regulations of Lloyd’s registrar of shipping.
Gupta added that since November 2015, GSL has delivered 4 CG OPVs to the Indian Coast Guard, 11 Fast Interceptor Boats and 2 Fast Patrol Vessels to Mauritius, 1 DCS to Myanmar, DCTF to ENC Vizag and many other smaller projects, all ahead of delivery schedule.
“The yard’s efforts in diversifying and expanding its product range are praiseworthy. The GSL is today the largest exporter of ships and simulators from the Indian subcontinent, with 30 percent of turnover coming from exports,” said Gupta.
He lauded GSL CMD Rear Admiral Shekar Mithal and the GSL staff for constructing state-of-art offshore patrol vessels for the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and for other nations.
