Taking cognizance of the report of inspection of Margao’s nullahs carried out by the government agencies, the Goa State Pollution Control Board has now directed the PWD, Sewerage Department to connect the city’s old sewerage line with the North Main Trunk line to minimise the back pressure.
The PWD, Sewerage Department has been further directed to rectify the manholes in order to avoid sewage overflow at several locations.
As far as the two STP plants located at Sirvodem is concerned, the inspection report has pointed out that there was no discharge of raw sewage in the nullah and only the treated water was discharged in the nullah at the rear side of the 20MLD STP.
The report has further pointed out that the connection of the 6.7 MLD plant with the 20MLD plant is completed and excess intake of the raw sewage at the 6.7 MLD is directed to the 20MLD for treatment.
The inspection report has further pointed out that the DG set of 350 KVA capacity is installed and made operational. The GSPCB, however, has recommended to provide stack of appropriate height for the DG set and also to carry out the stack monitoring and submit the monitoring reports to the Board.
