The gram sabha of the Village Panchayat of Guirdolim on Sunday approved a proposal allowing the panchayat to carry out a carrying capacity study of the village.
At the meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes, members said the study was needed to understand the current situation on the ground and to help plan for the future.
The gram sabha also decided to write to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, asking it to send all plans to the panchayat before granting any approvals.
On the issue of farmhouses, the gram sabha directed the panchayat to write to the TCP, requesting a joint inspection before any decision is taken.
