The Crime Branch sleuths recovered a pistol and a live round allegedly used in the August 28 firing at Majestic Pride Group director Srinivas Nayak in Porvorim.
Sources said police weapon was traced to an area near the Hindu cremation ground close to Tivim railway station.
“The weapon was discarded by one of the accused while fleeing after the shooting. The pistol and live round were recovered from the spot on Wednesday night. Interrogation of all the arrested accused are underway to get further lead in the case,” the official said.
Nayak had a narrow escape when two armed assailants allegedly opened three rounds of fire at him outside the casino. His security guard retaliated by firing three rounds, forcing the attackers to flee.
The case, initially registered at Porvorim police station as an attempt-to-murder case, was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch.
Police have so far arrested seven persons in the shooting.
