The Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai, visited the Goa Chitra Conglomerate of Museums in Benaulim on Wednesday to mark Goa Revolution Day. Victor Hugo Gomes, the founder and curator of the museums, welcomed the Governor and took him on a guided tour, explaining the museum’s work in preserving Goa’s intangible heritage.

The Governor was joined by his wife Rita Pillai, the Deputy Collector of South Goa, the Mamlatdar of Margao, historian Sanjeev Sardesai, and other dignitaries. They were received by Victor in the presence of Benaulim MLA Vency Viegas, the local ZP member, museum staff, and residents from the area. The group visited the three museums that make up the Goa Chitra conglomerate, which displays Goa’s farming tools, household items, artisan crafts, and traditional transport.

These exhibits are not just old objects — they reflect the everyday life and skills of Goans over generations. The 45-minute tour ended with the Governor announcing a donation of Rs 1 lakh from the Raj Bhavan budget to support Goa Chitra’s work.
