MARGAO

The High Court on Monday allowed a petition filed by Margao Municipal Council (MMC) workers, whose services were regularised on March 2, 2020, but later put on hold by the government on June 10 the same year. Former MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho, who supported the workers, told the media that the High Court’s order now confirms that the workers’ services stand regularised.

The workers had requested the High Court to issue a writ of mandamus or any other suitable direction to cancel the government’s decision to keep their appointment orders on hold, dated April 23 and June 10, 2020. They also urged the Court to direct the authorities to implement the regularisation order issued on March 2, 2020.
